The lifeguard dreamed one night of endless thunderstorms. He watched from
his highchair as they approached, purple and swollen. He smelled the sweet
electric smell. He heard the pleasant claps of thunder. He closed the pool
and made the swimmers go home and it was a good dream. When he woke, he
checked the weather report and was sorely disappointed. Nothing but sun.
