Dear Wigleaf,
Since childhood, I've been encouraged to treat every waking moment as a gift
from sources beyond the known. Considering that in the context of 2020 is
tough. I feel ungrateful, like a kid who asks his grandma for a gift receipt
on his birthday, then after noticing how horrible she feels that her gift
wasn't loved, feels horrible himself.
Does treating every moment as a gift require us to enjoy every moment? Maybe
not. Maybe the real gift is the feeling of accomplishment through hardship,
whatever form that takes. We may not love every gift we've ever received,
but as the old saying goes, it's the thought that counts.
Yours truly,
Paul Rousseau
