Dear Wigleaf - I went to see one of the smartest people I've ever met. He's a composer, and I always feel like I should bring up the subject of music, though of course, as one of the smartest people I've ever met, he's quite capable of discussing basically anything. I told him I had been listening to Swan Lake a lot, which is true, and somewhat hard to explain. I like Tchaikovsky; who doesn't? This man laughed and laughed, thinking it somehow very funny, then said to me, his eyes, nearly eight decades old, sparkling and serious, "Capitalism is an ideology." As we parted company, I felt like I knew nothing at all, but now when I listen to Swan Lake, I think about capitalism, so there you go. Rumaan - - -
