Prayer for a Daughter Sara Crowley
May God grant that you have a man to love you. A man to protect you and
cherish you. A man to adore you and keep you warm. A man to fuck you
and thrill you and hold you. May God grant you a man who will be loyal
and stable. A man unafraid of hard work. A man who will bring home good
money. And may God grant you a child. Two children; good looking ones.
And may God grant you good health for you and your family. May God
grant that you never have a child that dies in the ocean, or a child
that takes drugs, or a child that gets cancer. May God grant you all
happiness. May God grant you a steady weight. No facial hair. May God
grant you a house. With a roof! May God grant you patience
and kindness. May God grant you honesty and tact. May God grant that
you never have a neighbour full of spite. May God grant that you never
eat a poisoned fish. May God grant you a mind that can be at peace and
not worry that whatever you leave out of this prayer will be the very
thing you should not.
